Triterpenes from the Leaves of Rhododendron cinnabarinum Hook. F.
Abstract
Petroleum ether extract of the leaves of Rhododendron cinnabarinum Hook. f. has yielded seven triterpenes of which five have been identified as friedelin, epi-friedelinol, α-amyrin, campanulin and ursolic acid occurring in 0.05, 0.08, 0.12, 0.02 and 0.3% respectively. A neutral triterpene m.p. 226° and an acidic triterpene (methyl ester mp. 232°) have also been obtained in 0.01 and 0.007% yields respectively, characterisations of which are in progress.Downloads
